FAQs

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Yes, please bring photo ID with you as well as your ticket. When you arrive at the event, we’ll check your ID and will exchange your ticket for a festival wristband.

All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Please note, not all hacking activities will be open to or suitable for children but there will be activities available for children and there is a lot of space to go exploring too.

We reserve the right to refuse entry and we will be operating a good conduct policy. We expect all our attendees to treat each other with respect (see below for the code of conduct).

What is the code of conduct?

We want you to enjoy every aspect of Hacklands. If you have a problem, whatever it may be, please ask us and we will do our best to help you.

Every person attending the event is a human being. We expect you to treat each other as fellow humans at all times. If anyone feels, for whatever reason, that someone is behaving in a way that compromises this concept, please inform a member of staff immediately.

We reserve the right to reject, publicly, without refund, any attendee that violates this principle.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

We are a short taxi ride away from Oxted station. We have plenty of parking space which is just a short walk away from the camping area and the main festival. The full address for the farm and transport details will be provided to all ticket holders.

What can/can’t I bring to the event?

Please do not bring any glass – if you’re bringing alcohol, please decant it into plastic bottles. If you’re bringing beer, please bring cans not bottles. Remember there are children on site, so please keep your alcohol out of reach of small people. And cows do not like treading on glass.

No drugs on site please. They’re illegal. No legal highs either.

No cooking in the campsite or car park. If you have very specific dietary requirements, please talk to us about them so we can cater for you properly.

You are coming to a working farm and although some of the site is paved, most of it is fields. If it rains, there will be some mud. If you are disabled, please contact us to discuss any accessibility issues before you buy a ticket.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

You can contact James and Helen by email at hacklandsuk [at] gmail [dot] com.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes, up to 7 days before the event. Please contact us by email to organise.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes you can, up to 7 days before the event.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You can bring your printed ticket or a digital version with you. Your ticket will be exchanged for a wristband on arrival which will give you access to the site across the weekend.

What is the refund policy?

Tickets are not refundable. The catering all has to be ordered in advance and the bulk of your ticket price is for the catering.

Individual workshops may incur a small charge to cover materials. More details on these as we have it.

Is there internet access at the farm?

Yes, we have wifi across the site for all attendees to use and plenty of it. Ethernet will be available in the main hacking area. We are in the countryside so mobile signal is not always reliable so please do not count on it.

Can you recommend bed and breakfast accommodation?

Since we are now sold out at the farm, if glamping or camping is not your thing, you may like to book a room at Becketts which is the nearest B&B to the farm. Prices start at £65 for a single room and we’re told the breakfast is very good indeed. If you don’t mind travelling a bit further afield, there are B&Bs available in Westerham and Oxted.
